Council Team Leader – Scout Popcorn

The Greater Toronto Council is seeking applications for Council Team Leader – Scout Popcorn


Provides opportunity for every group to achieve their Scout Popcorn goal, so Scouts have fun adventures they wouldn’t have elsewhere.


  • Participate in the Scouts Canada Scout Popcorn network
  • Actively promote Scout Popcorn.
  • The Team Leader must have broad contacts throughout the Council including:
  • Council Key 3s
  • Area Key 3s
  • Group Commissioners & Administrators
  • Group Scout Popcorn Coordinators
  • Scouts Canada Revenue Development Department
  • Local businesses including warehouses, trucking companies and media
  • Plan and organize sales, support and logistics including:
    • Set the council sales goal with the Council Key 3
    • Warehouse and delivery


  • Work closely with the Council Key 3 to recruit, screen, orient, train, coach and evaluate a team that is able to assist every group achieve their Scout Popcorn goal
  • Serve as Manager of the Council Popcorn Team
  • Provide direct support to Groups & Areas to achieve Scout Popcorn fundraising goals
  • Maintain accurate order records
  • Assist Groups in planning and organization of their Scout Popcorn campaign i
  • Recognize Team volunteers for their contributions.


  • Communicate on a regular and timely basis with the Council Key Three; report all progress and difficulties encountered
  • Encourage community support in purchasing Scout Popcorn
  • Promote local advertising initiatives, as directed by Scouts Canada’s Marketing and Communications Department
  • Prepare articles for Council webpages and newsletters, recognizing Groups and Area exceeding Scout Popcorn Goals – submit to DCC Marketing and Communication for publishing
  • Distribution instructions to receive and deliver product to customers


  • Engage youth, parents and Scouters in the Scout Popcorn campaign, including group goal setting, kickoff events and sales training
  • Maintain enthusiasm and urgency throughout the campaign
  • Ensure compliance with Scouts Canada’s Policies, Procedures and Program Standards
  • Review campaign plans, including End of Campaign evaluation


  • Work well in team settings and demonstrate ability to inspire confidence, team effort and leadership in others


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Completed CP Wood Badge
  • Registered as a member of Scouts Canada
  • Working Knowledge of MyScouts, able to run reports
  • Experience in sales and/or marketing management
  • Effective Communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer-oriented service delivery
  • Knowledge of volunteer demographics and the challenges facing Scouts Canada’s volunteers


  • CV detailing your current Scouting role and Group (if applicable), Scouting background (and other community involvement), awards and recognition and leadership roles in and out of Scouting
  • Cover letter that identifies the Council for which you are applying and details regarding why you are interested in the position, your vision for Scouting and what you can contribute to the role
  • Name, telephone number and email address
